Marriott Center for Dance

Engineering Credits: The Marriott Center for Dance is exceptional in that it is home to two fully autonomous yet cooperative departments within the Fine Arts College: the Department of Modern Dance and the Department of Ballet.

Founded in 1951 by William F. Christensen (who also founded the San Francisco Ballet Company), the Department of Ballet is one of the the nations oldest and prestigious university ballet programs.

I was initially hired by the Ballet Department as their Audio Engineer. I work with choreographers to compile, edit, record (where necessary), mix, and master music for all of the dance performances. Later, I was picked up by the Modern Dance Department to do the same work for them. And ultimately was recruited by the Marriot Center for Dance (the facility housing both departments) to engineer the same tracks I had been editing for the space in which they are performed. I am now the Resident Sound Engineer for the whole building, which means I coordinate any and all audio needs within the complex.
